On April 23rd 2016, Children’s Medical Foundation had an opportunity to visit the Yunxian Yi People Township Health Center, a rural township hospital in Yunnan. With years of persistent support from Chinese government, the hospital is able to deliver basic prenatal care to the local people of Yunxian, Pu’er, Yunnan. However, as a result of the low level of neonatal care at the township hospital and lack of transport system to a higher facility, the mortality rate of newborn babies is still unacceptably high. CMF’s initiative is part of the continued effort to closing the rural-urban gap in neonatal care.
