The last weekend of February saw our partner NCU hospitals in Guizhou Province host their 3rd session of training in neonatal resuscitation and emergency care. Here are some photos and stories from the training weekend.

The Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hangtian Hospital told CMF that she was excited for this great training opportunity. When she received the invitation for the training session from Zunyi Hospital, she did not believe that training would ever be offered without any cost to her hospital, so called her friend at Zunyi hospital to confirm. In addition, she told us that the hands on component of the training was a great surprise to her and was appreciative of the opportunity to practice with teacher supervision. This has made her much more confident that she could apply what she learned from the training, and if she has any problems, she now has a healthcare professional she can contact for guidance. She was very thankful to CMF.

An Obstetrics and Gynaecology doctor from a township level hospital told CMF that this was the first time she had ever received training in neonatal resuscitation and emergency care. In the past, if there were any complications during the birth of the child, the hospital would send the family to another hospital or have to call in a pediatric doctor to provide emergency care. With this training, she feels she will be able to save precious time in an emergency situation and improve the quality of care for the newborn babies. She was very appreciative of the opportunity to participate in the training session.
