CMF’s 30th Anniversary Charity Gala raises HKD5.5 million to advance neonatal care across Hong Kong and China
Children’s Medical Foundation celebrated a major milestone on November 8, 2025, gathering more than 220 supporters at the Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong for its 30th Anniversary Charity Gala. The evening raised HKD5.5 million in support of CMF’s mission to save Asia’s most vulnerable newborns and strengthen healthcare access for babies in need.
The Gala brought together long-time donors, medical leaders, corporate partners, volunteers, and friends of CMF to honour three decades of impact since the Foundation’s beginnings as Project HOPE Hong Kong. Over the past 30 years, CMF has helped establish 102 program hospital NICUs, supported care for 87,000 newborns each year, trained 4,500 rural doctors and nurses, and contributed to a significant reduction in neonatal mortality in program regions.
The evening’s Guest of Honour, Mr. Henry Fan, Chairman of the Hospital Authority, congratulated CMF on its continued work alongside hospitals and healthcare partners. He also highlighted the participation of Hong Kong Children’s Hospital in the Chinese Neonatal Network since 2024, an important step toward strengthening collaboration and improving outcomes for newborns.
Funds raised from the Gala will support critical neonatal programs addressing urgent gaps in newborn care. In Hong Kong, there is currently no centralized neonatal network to systematically track and improve outcomes for the most vulnerable babies. CMF is also supporting bedside ultrasound training for neonatologists, equipping frontline doctors with skills that can help diagnose life-threatening conditions within minutes.
CMF Chairman Mr. Alex Ng and CEO Mrs. Estella Huang Lung expressed their heartfelt appreciation to donors, partners, and supporters whose generosity made the evening possible. The Gala featured a live auction, a silent auction with 37 special lots, power pledges, and performances by young people from Hong Kong, including drumming, rope-skipping, and singing.
Guests also enjoyed a specially curated culinary journey by Island Shangri-La, with dishes inspired by the regions where CMF runs programs and initiatives. More than 30 members of CMF’s Young Ambassador Society, Social Impact Fellowship, and Junior Professional Network volunteered their time to support event logistics, auctions, and guest experience throughout the evening.
A memorable highlight of the celebration was the presentation of CMF’s 30th Anniversary Pearl Pin to guests, symbolizing hope, resilience, and the precious lives CMF works to protect. The top 18 donors also received an exclusive Labubu wearing a CMF pearl necklace and green sunglasses, generously supported by CSOP Asset Management Limited.
CMF extends sincere gratitude to its Gala donors and partners, including Mr. CC Tung, Mr. Alex Ng, Mrs. Purviz R. Shroff, MH and the Late Mr. Rusy M. Shroff, BBS, MBE, Mr. Gene Kim, Peggy & Kevin Zhang, The Incorporated Zoroastrian Charity Funds of Hong Kong, Canton & Macao, We Doctor Holdings Limited, Island Shangri-La Hotel, Commanderie de Bordeaux, Rosa & Daniel Photography, Prestique Limited, #legend, Sing Tao Daily, Vogue, and GQ.
As CMF looks ahead, the Foundation remains committed to building stronger neonatal systems, empowering medical professionals, and ensuring that more babies receive the care they need to survive and thrive.
Thank you to every donor, partner, volunteer, and friend who made this milestone celebration possible. Together, we can continue saving China’s youngest and poorest — one newborn life at a time.
