On March 1st, 2024, a group of neonatal doctors and nurses from two county hospitals in Bijie and Zunyi officially began an attachment training program at the Guiyang Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital. During this intensive 6-month training, the medical personnel received hands-on instruction in performing procedures such as paracentesis – a critical procedure where fluid is extracted from the abdominal cavity for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes.

This unparalleled training opportunity has been transformative for the neonatal care teams from the remote county hospitals. By mastering advanced techniques like paracentesis, they have been able to significantly elevate the level of care provided at their County Neonatal Care Units. This will have a profound impact on improving health outcomes for vulnerable newborns in these underserved communities.

CMF is proud to have supported this important training program, which is building vital medical skills and strengthening neonatal care capabilities in rural areas. Our organization remains committed to investing in the professional development of healthcare workers to ensure equitable access to quality care, even in the most remote regions.
