Children’s Medical Foundation (CMF) announced today that Mr. Philip Leung has been appointed new CEO of the Foundation. An experienced business leader, Mr. Philip Leung will succeed Ms. Estella Huang Lung and assume responsibilities with effect from today. Estella will continue as a consultant to focus on an orderly handover, with a plan to return to the CMF board. We thank Estella for her contribution during the last 15 years and for her ongoing support.
Mr. Philip Leung brings a wealth of experience initially in the commercial and subsequently in the nonprofit sectors where he has amongst others served in senior executive positions in Compaq Computer, Quantum, AMD and as President of CanCham. Philip also believes in service to the community and has served as Governor of AmCham and Founding President of AAMA Greater Bay Area with presence in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. His passion for service started whilst in King’s College as a volunteer at the Children’s Club of the Hong Kong University Social Service Group where he went on to become its Chairman in his first year at HKU. Philip has also served as President and now Advisor of the Harvard Business School HK Alumni Club.
“Born in Guangdong, Philip is trilingual and has worked in Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai, Silicon Valley, Singapore and Taipei and therefore possesses the relevant background to help CMF manage new challenges and expand its stakeholder base across China and globally,” said CMF Board Chairman Mr. Alex Ng.
“Apart from my role as a mother, my work at CMF has been the most rewarding and important role of my life,” said departing CEO Ms. Estella Huang Lung. “I am grateful to our partners who have made Social Impact Fellowship, Charity Golf and CMF’s child health programs a success. Together, we have elevated neonatal care resources to strengthen healthcare systems in China, saving lives and benefitting generations. I share this great pride with our stakeholders and the CMF Family, and warmly welcome Philip to deepen and broaden our work.”
“I am very excited to join CMF to continue Estella’s excellent work,” said Mr. Philip Leung. “I am confident that my experience in corporate businesses — including those in China, Silicon Valley and the rest of Asia, as well as chambers of commerce — can be brought to bear to lead CMF in the next phase of our development. I also hope to tap my technology background and links with the education community to explore new initiatives such as health care technology.”
